Volunteers from across the State were recognised through the WA Volunteer Service Awards program, delivered by the Department of Communities.
This year we received 458 eligible nominations for individuals who have volunteered for five or more years. The Awards were recently expanded to recognise volunteers who have contributed five years or more voluntary service, which means we can formally recognise more volunteers, opening the doors to a broader range of volunteers, including younger people.
Yesterday, 11 exceptional Western Australians were recognised for their extraordinary contributions of more than 50 years' voluntary service at a special Awards ceremony.
Together, they have provided thousands of years of service across organisations such as Girl Guides WA, St John Ambulance, Scouts WA, emergency services and the Country Women’s Association.
