Show your support – International Women’s Day 2025

News story
Our Women’s Interests team is gearing up for another empowering International Women’s Day in 2025, held on 8 March each year.
Last updated:

International Women’s Day provides a great chance for the Western Australian community to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and to highlight the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality in Western Australia.

This year we commemorate 30 years since 189 countries unanimously adopted the ‘Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action’ for gender equality in 1995. It is considered a key global policy document on gender equality.

Department of Communities will be promoting the messages of International Women’s Day in the week leading up to Saturday 8 March 2025 and celebrating its theme - March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls.

The theme reminds us that forward momentum is essential to turn commitments into action, and as expressed by UN Women Australia, promises in progress.

The theme also closely aligns with Stronger Together: WA’s Plan for Gender Equality and supports the principles and four priority areas of the Plan.
