Since this web page was published, the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Rules have been renamed the Electricity System and Market (ESM) Rules, and the Electricity Industry (Wholesale Electricity Market) Regulations 2004 (WEM Regulations) have been renamed the Electricity Industry (Electricity System and Market) Regulations 2004 (ESM Regulations). Changes have not been made to this web page to reflect this updated name.
On 1 July 2021, the Coordinator of Energy will assume responsibility for the administration of the WEM Rules. As a consequence, the Coordinator will also assume responsibility for two existing WEM Procedures, being the:
- Notices and Communications WEM Procedure; and
- Procedure Administration WEM Procedure
These responsibilities, which are currently under the remit of the Rule Change Panel, are being transferred as part of a suite of energy sector governance reforms announced by the Minister for Energy on 12 October 2020.
Amendments have been drafted to the above WEM Procedures to account for the governance changes. The Coordinator of Energy invites stakeholders to provide feedback by 5:00pm WST, Monday 24 May 2021.
To find a copy of these draft procedures visit our webpage: Consultation on Wholesale Electricity Market Procedures.
