Energy Policy WA is excited to announce that the Whole of System Plan interactive data dashboard for stakeholders to explore the future of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) is now live. The data dashboard provides an intuitive platform for stakeholders to explore the data utilised during the development of the Whole of System Plan, which was released in October 2020.

The Whole of System Plan is a detailed study of how our major power system may evolve over the next 20 years. Using data provided by industry, the plan models four scenarios of how changes in demand, technology, and the economy may shape the way we use electricity and guide the investments in large scale generation, storage and network over the coming decades to achieve lowest-cost, lower-emissions electricity.

The modelling inputs were developed and tested via more than 70 meetings with energy sector stakeholders. This included one-on-one meetings with industry participants, investors and advocacy groups. Data from the modelling has been used to develop an interactive data dashboard to allow consumers and other stakeholders to explore the future of the SWIS in a graphical and engaging way.

We hope that you enjoy the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the data underpinning assumptions in the Whole of System Plan.

Thank you to everyone who attended our online launch this morning and to our guest speaker Matt Neil from Lime Theory for providing some tips on story telling with data.
