In 2010 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming the first week of February every year as World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) and encouraging the spread of a message of interfaith harmony and goodwill.

The Equal Opportunity Commission supports the aim of WIHW as it aligns with our vision of eliminating discrimination, harassment and victimisation to achieve an inclusive community.

Under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 it is unlawful to discriminate against a person because of their religious conviction, or lack of conviction, and antisemitism and islamophobia are unacceptable in our multicultural society

The Commission’s program to educate about equal opportunity includes a range of training and information sessions. If you are interested in the Commission delivering a session to your community group, please contact us by email at training@eoc.wa.gov.au or phone 9216 3927.

General information about training offered by the Commission is available on our website - Community Education and Training
