The Procurement Act 2020 allows the Department of Treasury and Finance to release General Procurement Directions. State agencies must comply with these Directions.

Recent changes
The addition of General Procurement Direction 2026/01 – Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Awareness Training, seeks to provide on-site construction workers on relevant Western Australian State Government projects with access to annual on-site training on mental health and suicide prevention. This Program is in response to suicide rates in the Western Australian construction industry, which are amongst the highest in the country, and aims to reduce stigma around mental health issues in the industry.
