Seniors and Ageing Minister Don Punch today announced the recipients of the Seniors Week Grants for 2023, sharing in $80,000 funding to run community events across Seniors Week.

Seniors Week celebrates the role of older people in our communities, promotes positive ageing and encourages participation in community life.

Held between 12 and 19 November 2023, the week will see dozens of events and activities staged across WA.

A total of 74 community organisations and local governments in metropolitan, regional and remote areas of our State have been provided with grant funding for Seniors Week activities.

There is a range of events funded across the State, including an art workshop for Aboriginal elders in Fitzroy Valley, a free worm farm workshop for Joondalup seniors and a long table lunch for seniors and Lakelands Senior High School students.

The funding allocations of up to $3,000 per event will be used to cover expenses such as advertising and promotion, catering, venue and equipment hire, and transport.

The Seniors Week Community Grants Program is coordinated by the Council on the Ageing (WA) in partnership with the Department of Communities and Lotterywest.
