- Perth and Peel lockdown to end as planned at 12.01am Tuesday, April 27
- Until 12.01am Saturday, May 1, strict interim restrictions will be in place to keep WA safe
- Masks to remain mandatory in indoor and outdoor public areas during this period
The Perth and Peel regions' three-day lockdown will end as planned at 12.01am midnight (April 27) based on the latest public health advice.
A post-lockdown transition will be in place for the Perth and Peel regions until 12.01am Saturday, May 1 to keep Western Australia safe.
Western Australians must continue to wear masks in public at indoor and outdoor areas, practise physical distance, where possible, and maintain good personal hygiene at all times.
The post-lockdown transitional measures for the Perth and Peel regions as of 12.01am Tuesday, April 27, include:
- everyone must continue to wear a mask in public, while at work and on public transport, unless exempt or for outdoor vigorous exercise;
- 20-person limit in all homes and private indoor and outdoor gatherings;
- four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit for cafés, restaurants, bars and pubs - for seated food and drink service only;
- four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit for beauty salons, hairdressers and barbers;
- public venues such as recreation centres, outdoor playgrounds, museums, swimming pools can open with the four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit in place;
- places of worship can open with four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit;
- no visitors to aged and disability facilities and hospitals, except for compassionate reasons and advocacy;
- weddings and funerals can proceed with up to 100 guests with an exemption and a COVID-Event plan in place;
- professional and community sports, including training, permitted but without spectators;
- intrastate Perth and Peel border removed, meaning people can travel with the exception of some remote Aboriginal communities, but anyone who has been in Perth since April 17 must wear a mask in public and while at work, unless exempt or for outdoor vigorous exercise;
- entertainment venues can open with the four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit in place;
- elective surgery can proceed for category 1 and urgent category 2 surgeries only; and
- fitness clubs, gyms, casinos and nightclubs will remain closed.
Under the post-lockdown transition measures, schools, childcare centres and TAFEs will be able to open from Tuesday, April 27, with the mandatory mask rule applying to all school staff and secondary students. Masks are not required for primary school students or for staff when they are teaching.
Universities can open for online learning only.
