How to restore your expired electrician’s licence
Expired up to two years
If your licence has expired within 30 days or less, you can still renew your licence.
To restore your licence, you'll need:
- Your licence number (shown on your licence or call 1300 489 099).
- Mobile phone number and/or email address on file with the department.
- Proof of ID ready to upload.
- A police check ready to upload (dated within the past 3 months).
- Visa/Mastercard for fee payment.

You can restore an electrician’s licence that has been expired for more than 30 days but less than two years by completing the form below:
- Electrician's licence
- Electrician endorsed Electrical Fitting Work
- Electrical Contractor's Licence (Individual) Form R019A
- Electrical Contractor's Licence (Partnership) Form R019B
- Electrical Contractor's Licence (Company) Form R019C
- In-House Installing Work Licence (Individual) Form R144A
- In-House Installing Work Licence (Partnership) Form R144B
- In-House Installing Work Licence (Company) Form R144C
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanics Licence
- Restricted Electrical Licence (disconnect/reconnect)
Expired over two years
If your electrician’s licence has been expired for more than two years, you’ll need to complete additional training before it can be reinstated.
The specific training requirements are listed in the application forms below. To get started, you’ll need to request an approval letter to undertake training from Licensing Services by emailing electricallicensing@lgirs.wa.gov.au.
- Application to restore an Electrician's licence - expired between 2 and 5 years
- Application to restore an Electrician's licence - expired over 5 years
- Application to restore an Electrician endorsed Electrical Fitting Work licence- expired between 2 and 10 years (training required)
- Application to restore a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanics licence - Expired between two and ten years.
