WA Residential Battery Scheme
- The WA Residential Battery Scheme allows you to access a rebate and/or a no-interest loan to purchase and install a battery to power your home.
- The WA Government’s scheme is in addition to the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program. On a 10kWh battery applicants are eligible for a combined rebate of:
- $5,000 for Synergy customers
- $7,500 for Horizon Power customers
- No-interest loans will also be available for up to $10,000 to households with a combined annual income of less than $210,000. Loan repayment periods will be up to 10 years.

Energy Ahead
- Energy Ahead, previously known as the Household Energy Efficiency Scheme, is a $13 million program, being delivered in partnership by Energy Policy WA, the State-owned electricity retailers Synergy and Horizon Power, and non-government organisations.
- The program presents a real, hands-on solution towards preventing and reducing energy-related financial hardship, by supporting up to 10,000 households to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, a key factor that contributes to high energy bills.
Energy Efficiency Pilot Program - Switch Your Thinking
- The State Government has invested $500,000 to help Switch Your Thinking assist more Western Australian households and small businesses improve their energy efficiency and discover more ways to save on energy bills.
- Switch Your Thinking will use the funding to deliver expanded energy efficiency education and resources in participating local government areas all across the State.
- Expanded supports include do-it-yourself energy audit tool kits for loan at local libraries across Perth metropolitan and regional WA, enabling residents to perform home energy self-assessments and energy efficiency workshops for households and small businesses providing practical advice on a variety of topics including reducing energy use, solar panels, electric vehicles and planning for electrification.
- Switch Your Thinking is a joint sustainability initiative of the City of Armadale, City of Gosnells, and the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.

WA Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative
- The WA Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative is a $63.2 million program funded jointly by the Australian and Western Australian Governments.
- The program will upgrade to 4,350 properties in remote and regional locations in hot climate areas to reduce energy bills and make homes more comfortable for tenants.
- Upgrades, such as ceiling insulation, are intended to make houses more comfortable to live in and reduce energy bills for tenants.
- Properties will be selected from those owned or managed by the Department of Communities.
- The program will run until mid-2027
The Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative was introduced by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
A joint media release outlines how the Albanese and Cook Governments have partnered to deliver energy savings for people living in social housing.
Alternative Electricity Services framework
- The Western Australian Government is introducing new consumer protections for households who are supplied under alternative energy services arrangements. This includes customers in embedded networks, usually multi-occupancy buildings like apartment buildings, retirement villages, and residential parks.

- The Climate Action website is where the WA Government publishes information on its efforts to address climate change. The website regularly updates with the latest State Government projects and initiatives to enhance climate resilience and support the low‑carbon transition.
