Our strategy for workforce diversification and inclusion

Our strategy and action plans for building a more diverse and inclusive public sector.

Research shows that when organisations value diversity and inclusion it leads to greater staff satisfaction, better customer service and improved decision making and performance. The workforce is more connected, motivated and productive.

Our approach to building workforce diversity and inclusion is set out in the Workforce Diversification and Inclusion Strategy for WA Public Sector Employment 2020–2025.

This establishes our collective intent to drive change and provides a common language for how we talk about diversity and inclusion across the public sector.

The strategy is supported by action plans for 6 identified diversity groups and sets aspirational targets that are challenging but crucial to drive change.

Diversity groupAspirational target
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people3.7%
Culturally and linguistically diverse people 15.5%
People with disability 5.0%
People of diverse sexualities and genders No set target
Women in the Senior Executive Service50.0%
Youth5.8%
