Achieving the target
Increasing the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed in the sector requires sustained effort, different ways of working and stronger accountability.

Tracking progress
In September 2024 representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in public sector employment was 2.8%.
A concerted focus is needed to increase employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
