Maureen Lewis was appointed Commissioner of the Mental Health Commission in July 2023. Ms Lewis is an experienced senior executive and accomplished leader, with a proven track record in driving strategy and reform within the mental health sector. 

She has previously held the role of Assistant Commissioner Policy, Planning and Strategy at the Western Australia Mental Health Commission, Deputy and Interim Chief Executive Officer at the National Mental Health Commission, and was most recently the Executive Director of Child and Adolescent Mental Health services at the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS). 

While at CAHS, Ms Lewis played a key role in developing Models of Care and working towards implementing the Infant, Child and Adolescent (ICA) Taskforce recommendations. 

In her role as Mental Health Commissioner, Ms Lewis continues to lead significant reforms in the mental health, alcohol and other drug sector in Western Australia, including through ongoing involvement with the ICA Taskforce.
