The Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE) has developed a package of guidelines to support proponents in the operation of the changes introduced by the Petroleum Legislation Amendment Act 2024.
The package of guidelines include:
- Management of subsisting titles;
- Applying for consent to undertake scientific investigation;
- Energy resource discovery policy; and
- Annual assessment report forms and supporting guide notes.
An information sheet has been developed to assist stakeholders with navigating the package of guidelines for the purposes of the consultation. The information sheet includes a more detailed overview of the content and purpose of each document.
The department is now inviting stakeholder feedback on these documents.
A response will be provided to each submission received. All submissions will be collectively published and made available to the public in response to submissions documents.
Submissions will be published verbatim, with the submitter listed.
The closing date for submissions is 30 October 2026 at 4pm AWST.
Please note that the closing date is final and no extensions of time will be granted.
All written submissions can be sent via email to petroleum.titles@dmpe.wa.gov.au
When providing feedback please ensure you clearly identify which guideline you are referencing.
DMPE thanks all stakeholders for their considered input into the process.
