Modernising the Environmental Protection Act - Discussion paper

Research and analysis
This paper promotes discussion, invites feedback and encourages stakeholder involvement to support the modernisation of the Environmental Protection Act.
Last updated:

The amendments outlined in this discussion paper focus on environmental impact assessment, environmental regulation and clearing of native vegetation regulated under the Environmental Protection Act 1986.

The proposed amendments are drawn from a number of reviews undertaken since the last major amendments by the Gallop Government in 2003 and from feedback from stakeholders over that same period.
