Passive sampling of ambient concentrations of volatile organic compounds in Collie

Technical Report
Findings of the study on the levels of VOCs using passive samplers in and around Collie.
Last updated:

Volatile Organic Compounds are a large group of air pollutants, some of which are harmful to both the environment and human health.

The first study in Collie was carried out in 2006 as part of developing the background air toxics monitoring program in Perth and selected regional areas.

After considering input from the community and other key stakeholders, a comprehensive monitoring program was instigated for VOCs in July 2007. Monitoring concluded on 2 July 2008.

The aims of the study were to:

  • compile data on the levels of VOCs using passive samplers in and around Collie
  • assess the measured levels of VOCs against the standards and guidelines set by the National Environment Protection (Air Toxics) Measure (NEPM).
