Pinjarra air quality

Technical Report
Summary of the data collected during a six-month air quality monitoring campaign in Pinjarra, Western Australia, across the summer of 2024-25.
Last updated:

Pinjarra community members have expressed concerns about dust, potentially from Alcoa’s alumina refinery. The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has responded by investigating air quality in the area, with the latest monitoring campaign held in the town centre from 1 November 2024 to 30 April 2025.

Live air quality data were publicly available on the department’s air quality index website. The Department of Health has reviewed the results and advised that the measured concentrations of dust and other pollutants do not represent a public health risk.
