Road Safety Environmental Scan

Guidance
The Environmental Scan identifies the wider social, economic and environmental context which may impact road safety
Last updated: 25 October 2022

To achieve the targets set by Driving Change, the Road Safety Strategy for Western Australia 2020-2030 requires an understanding of how priorities and actions to improve road safety fit together and why we are doing them.

We have developed an Environmental Scan to guide our understanding of the context in which we make decisions about road safety. We have used the following key to represent the contextual factors that may impact road safety:

(From L to R) Population, Technology, Environment, Mobility Patterns, Economics, Vehicle Fleet, Road Users, Governance.

The Environmental Scan identifies several key numerical indicators of the operating environment for road safety that change over time, such as the unemployment rate in Western Australia. In order to track shifts in this environment, quarterly updates of these key indicators will be published on this page.
