Activities associated with construction and operation of buildings contribute to the use of natural resources and the production of greenhouse gases, both impacting negatively on the environment. The Department of Finance (Finance) acknowledges its role in minimising these impacts and to demonstrate alignment with Government commitments on climate change.  Therefore, Finance have developed Technical Guideline TG040, to provide measured design and construction process enhancements associated with sustainability.  This Guideline sets minimum standards to be achieved for energy use, water efficiency, and waste management.
