New WA Carers Strategy
The State Government is developing a new WA Carers Strategy and wants to hear directly from carers across Western Australia.
A statewide survey to capture carers’ experiences, challenges, and priorities, was open until 12 December 2025. Feedback will help shape the new strategy and guide future consultation.
Current WA Carers Strategy
The current WA Carers Strategy, published in 2016, guides agencies, service providers and the community towards greater support for and recognition of carers and their needs.
The Strategy recognises that the lives and needs of carers and the people they care for are entwined, but they are not the same. It also recognises that supporting carers’ health and wellbeing is as important as supporting their capacity to provide care.
The Strategy guides the Western Australian community on how to better recognise and support carers. It outlines areas of priority, as identified by carers themselves and the organisations that support them, with strategies and actions for the community to follow.
