TAC Registration Standards 2025 Hub
The Training Accreditation Council's (TAC/Council) online hub has been designed to serve as a reliable 'source of truth' for TAC RTOs. Aligned with the Commonwealth Government's Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) Policy Guidance document, the hub offers a clear and accessible understanding of the 2025 Standards' intent. TAC will regularly update the hub with fact sheets, webinars, and podcasts, ensuring RTOs have access to the most current information.
By providing this centralised resource, TAC aims to empower RTOs to make informed decisions, navigate the regulatory environment confidently, and ultimately deliver high-quality training and assessment.
Does the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards) apply to all RTOs?
Requirements for RTOs regulated by TAC are set out in the WA Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 and the Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009 (Regulations). To implement the 2025 Standards in Western Australia (WA) for TAC registered RTOs, amendments to the Regulations were required
The amendments to the Regulations were approved by the Government of WA and take effect from
1 October 2025.
The regulatory amendments formally bring the 2025 Standards into effect for RTOs that are registered with the Council.
The new regulations include finalised versions of the 2025 Standards policy documents. These have been published as part of a complete suite of Standards 2025 information including legislation, frameworks, finalised documents on the Legislation page
Implementation
A three-month transition process is planned. During this period RTOs must continue to meet the requirements of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (2015 Standards) and all applications will be assessed against the 2015 Standards.
All RTOs must have moved to the 2025 Standards on the enactment date of 1 January 2026, as detailed below:
