The Premier's Science Awards continues to recognise outstanding research and engagement taking place in Western Australia's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector.
In its 24th year, the program displayed significant growth, which included the addition of 2 new award categories - the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist of the Year and the Government Science Project of the Year, to celebrate the extraordinary impact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and government scientists create for Western Australia. The People's Choice Award was awarded to a finalist with the most votes from community members at the 2025 Premier's Science Awards ceremony.
From a field of 38 finalists for the Premier’s Science Awards, 13 were named winners across 10 award categories. Each award recipient took shares from a total prize pool of $140,000, including $50,000 awarded to the Scientist of the Year.
Happening alongside the Premier's Science Awards was the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame which celebrates members of the STEM community who have delivered important work in their field of expertise.
We congratulate this year's Premier's Science Awards winners and the new WA Science Hall of Fame inductee, celebrating their achievements as leaders of STEM in WA.
