Dedicated Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Entity

Western Australia’s first Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Entity established – Department of Communities.
Last updated:

On 14 January 2026, the Cook Government awarded the contract to deliver the new Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Entity – a significant initiative to strengthen Western Australia’s response to family and domestic violence through training and professional development for frontline workers.

Following a comprehensive tender process, the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing will deliver the entity in partnership with Stopping Family Violence, Council of Aboriginal Services WA, Aboriginal Health Council WA, Community Skills WA, Professor Donna Chung and WorkUP.

This initiative delivers on a key priority of the Strengthening Responses to Family and Domestic Violence System Reform Plan 2024–2029: establishing a dedicated Workforce Entity to ensure organisations and workers have the knowledge and skills required to respond effectively to family and domestic violence.

The Entity will drive workforce development across government, the community sector and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. It will also play a critical role in implementing key system reform actions, including the Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Capability Framework and the Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework.

The Department of Communities led a comprehensive consultation process to design the Entity’s functions, working closely with the community sector, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and government stakeholders.
