From 1 July 2025, the Department of Communities’ Housing functions, including the Housing Authority and social housing works and tenancy management, moved to the new Department of Housing and Works

Online payment of your invoices can still be made by choosing from one of the options below.

About the Department of Communities

The Department of Communities (Communities) was established on 1 July 2017 under the Public Sector Management Act 1994

About the Disability Services Commission

The Disability Services Commission moved under the Department of Communities (Communities) on 1 July 2017 when Communities was established under the Public Sector Management Act 1994. The Disability Services Commission continues to operate as a legal entity within Communities.

About the Department of Housing and Works

On 31 March the Premier of Western Australia, Roger Cook announced a reform of some public sector agencies to align with his vision for the future of our State.

From 1 July 2025, the Department of Finance became the Department of Housing and Works. From 1 July 2025, the Department of Communities’ housing functions, including the Housing Authority and social housing works and tenancy management, moved to the new Department of Housing and Works.

About the Housing Authority

The Housing Authority moved under the Department of Housing and Works on 1 July 2025. The Housing Authority continues to operate as a legal entity within the Department of Housing and Works.
