Target 120 Program

Target 120 is a Western Australian Government initiative to build safer and more inclusive communities.
Last updated:

Target 120 is an early intervention program to steer at-risk young people away from the criminal justice system, helping to create safer communities.

The program provides 12 months of targeted, flexible support to young people aged 10-14 years who are at risk of becoming repeat offenders.

The program’s focus is on tertiary prevention by identifying those who are already offending and at elevated risk of becoming prolific offenders, implementing support and services, and addressing other social factors that impact on individual behaviour.

It is delivered through a collaboration of government agencies, local community organisations and service providers.

Participants are provided support to tackle factors that increase the chances of offending, including substance abuse, housing challenges, domestic violence, trauma, mental health issues and poor attendance at school.

The supports received through the program enable young people to make positive life choices and establish strong community connections.

Target 120 Plus

Target 120 Plus is an expansion of the Target 120 program which includes young people aged between 10-17 years who have been sentenced, awaiting sentencing, or those who would otherwise be sentenced to youth detention.

The State Government has funded two Target 120 Plus sites, which are based in Broome and the Perth metro region.

The continuation and expansion of Target 120 and Target 120 Plus programs demonstrates the need across WA to support at-risk youth and create safer communities.
