The volunteering landscape in Australia is changing and you can keep up to date with its evolution with these informative and insightful sources.

Volunteering Australia

Volunteering Australia is the national peak body for volunteering and works to advance volunteering in the Australian community.

The National Strategy for Volunteering 2023-2033 has been released and will provide a blueprint for a reimagined volunteering future in Australia over the next 10 years.

The Volunteering Resource Hub provides many up-to-date, evidence based, and current best practice research and resources that cover a range of volunteering topics in Australia.

Australian Bureau of Statistics

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) 2021 Census data is the most up to date national data on volunteering.

The ABS provides questions in the Census on formal volunteering collated nationally. During consultations on volunteering data collection in relation to the General Social Survey, ABS also identified that a key theme from consultations was the critical data gap on informal volunteering.

In the absence of being able to quantify both formal and informal volunteering, it is not possible to understand the true amount of voluntary activity that people engage in.

WA Volunteering Strategy

The WA Volunteering Strategy provides an action framework and suggested strategies for implementation by government, non-government organisations, the private sector and community.
