Commissioner's Operating Policies and Procedures: Prisons

COPPs operationalise relevant legislation to enable staff understand the job they have to do, and how they need to do it. COPPs will standardise the minimum service requirements across all prisons and clearly stipulate the discretion afforded to Superintendents when drafting Standing Orders.

The Department of Justice is currently implementing the COPPs and will replace the current suite of custodial operational instruments. This implementation is scheduled to be completed by 30 September 2021.
