The Collie Just Transition Plan 2026–2030 sets out how the WA Government is working with the community to support Collie as it continues to transition away from coal-fired power generation by attracting new industries and creating jobs.
The 2026–30 Plan builds on the foundations established under the inaugural 2021–2025 Just Transition Plan. The inaugural plan established a vision for transition and agreed ways of working, with a focus on supporting affected workers, cementing pathways toward attracting new industries, and strengthening the local economy to support diversification.
Since 2021, this work has created new opportunities for Collie, including in tourism and emerging industries, while supporting impacted workers by providing them with the tools necessary to consider retraining or transitioning their individual career pathways.
Nearly $700 million has been committed by the WA Government to support Collie’s transition, including investment in workforce support, training, industry attraction and local business growth. This investment continues to underpin economic diversification and job creation in the region.
Developed in close collaboration with Collie’s Just Transition Working Group, the 2026–30 Plan sets out the priority areas to guide Collie through the next phase of change. It outlines a framework to support workers, attract new industries and jobs, strengthen long term economic resilience and liveability, and ensure the safe closure and rehabilitation of state-owned coal assets.
The WA Government remains committed to working alongside the Collie community to secure long-term jobs and a strong future for the town.
