Jury duty in Western Australia

The jury system is an important part of our justice system and is administered by the Sheriff's Office throughout Western Australia for the Supreme and District Court.
Last updated:

Jurors are members of our community who are randomly selected from the WA Electoral Roll. A jury consists of a group of 12 or more jurors randomly selected to decide based on evidence presented in court whether an accused person in a criminal trial is either guilty or not guilty.

Jury service is a legal responsibility and requires the cooperation of the community including employers, employees, and the State Government to ensure this vital part of the justice system functions properly within our society.

The Juries Act 1957 and Juries Regulations 2008 governs how the jury system is administered in our state.
