ACR Executive Summary

The 2 year trial of the Agency Capability Review Program commenced in July 2021 with the departments of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions; Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety; and Water and Environmental Regulation the first departments to participate.

The review program provides for the first time a proactive approach to agency and whole of sector improvement, and helps to identify and address risks before problems occur.

All staff and leadership from the 3 agencies are thanked for their commitment to and participation in the review.

The first 3 reviews have not only provided important information to guide agencies’ improvement activities, but also helped the Commission enhance and strengthen the process of undertaking a review.

Each executive summary outlines the process undertaken in each review, its findings, lines of inquiry and good practices.

Reviews provide important information to guide agencies’ continuous improvement activities, with all 3 agencies already commencing this work in response to their review.

Agencies are required to include in their annual report the improvement activities undertaken in response to the review.
