Dr Byrne said he was honoured to take part in the launch which was hosted by the Future of Work Institute, Curtin University.

"The Equal Opportunity Commission is pleased to be a part of the MARS program by having input into education and training programs to address sex discrimination, sexual harassment and racial harassment to program participants," he said.

He said by working together the State Government and the resource sector have acknowledged they have a duty of care to those working in WA's mining industry and are willing to improve work conditions by addressing adverse behaviour.

"Although the mining industry is not the only industry where sexual harassment and bullying occurs, it is wonderful to see 19 mining companies take part in the five-day masterclass program as part of the MARS initiative, and I am glad to take part in the launch of the toolkit to assist that program," Dr Byrne said.
