The State Government is continuing to deliver upon commitments made in the Strengthening Responses to Family and Domestic Violence System Reform Plan 2024-2029, launching a new family and domestic violence workforce entity, Perpetrator Response Framework, and updated Practice Standards for Perpetrator Intervention.
The workforce entity, WorkforceFDV, will receive $6 million in government funding over the next three years and enhance the knowledge, skills and capabilities of family and domestic violence sector workers to support victim-survivors and respond to perpetrators.
WorkforceFDV is being delivered by the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing in partnership with Stopping Family Violence, Council of Aboriginal Services WA, Aboriginal Health Council WA, Community Skills WA and Professor Donna Chung, with WorkUP Queensland supporting its establishment.
Coinciding with the launch of the entity, WA’s first Perpetrator Response Framework has also been released, setting a clear statewide approach for how the family and domestic violence system works with perpetrators of family and domestic violence.
WA’s Practice Standards for Perpetrator Intervention have also been comprehensively reviewed, now reflecting significant changes in legislation, policy, evidence and practice. The revised Standards place a stronger emphasis on victim-survivor safety, perpetrator accountability, cultural responsiveness and interagency coordination.
Together, the launch of WorkforceFDV and the release of the Framework and updated Practice Standards represent an important milestone in building a stronger family and domestic violence system focused on prevention, accountability and safety.
