On 12 October 2020, the Minister for Energy announced improvements to the energy sector governance arrangements to ensure efficient outcomes that can keep pace with the evolution of the sector.

Stakeholders were invited to comment on a package of daft amendments to the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Rules and Gas Services Information (GSI) Rules, as well as drafting instructions for the amendment of the WEM Regulations and GSI Regulations.  Consultation was open for a period of four weeks, closing on 11 December 2020.

Stakeholder feedback has been incorporated into the final rules and regulations, which have now been gazetted and will commence on 1 July 2021.

Energy Policy WA would like to thank all respondents for their valuable contributions to the consultation process.

A Consultation Response paper has been prepared to summarise stakeholder feedback and provide information about resulting amendments made, with stakeholder submissions provided below.
