From 1 July 2026, the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act (the PRIS Act) came into effect and introduced legislation to protect the personal information of Western Australians while allowing the responsible sharing of government data.
Communities brings together vital services and functions that enable individual, family, and community wellbeing.
Communities provides services across a range of portfolios and will only collect personal information when it is necessary to perform its functions or activities in line with applicable legislation and policy frameworks.
Collection Notices are available for all portfolios connected to the services that we provide.
A Collection Notice is a statement given to an individual about:
- how and why their personal information is being collected
- what personal information is collected and held
- how it will be used and disclosed
- who their information is shared with
- any law that requires the particular information be collected
- the impact for the individual if all or part of the information is not provided
- where additional information can be obtained
