The Future of Fremantle Planning Committee was established as a committee of the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), to create a vision and consider land use and economic development opportunities for Fremantle | Walyalup's Inner Harbour port precinct.

Membership and support

The 13-member committee is chaired by WAPC Board Member and experienced urban planner Jane Bennett. Its work is supported by:

  • a Future of Fremantle Reference Group
  • a Future of Fremantle Aboriginal Reference Group
  • the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage 
  • Strategic Advisor Nicole Lockwood, who is also Chair of the Infrastructure WA Board and the former Chair of the Westport Taskforce.
  • a multi-disciplinary consultant team
  • cultural advisory consultants.

The Committee also draws on the expertise and perspectives of members of the community and stakeholders with long-standing interest, knowledge and involvement in the area.
