Future of Fremantle project area

The Future of Fremantle project area covers more than 260 hectares of land – equivalent to around 30 football stadiums.

The project area is comparable in size to some of the world’s largest and transformative waterfront redevelopment projects, such as Docklands in Melbourne, Darling Harbour and Barangaroo in Sydney, and Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam.

While these projects have different contexts to Fremantle’s Inner Harbour, they demonstrate the potential for redevelopment of the precinct to accommodate a significant workforce and residential population that could have a transformative effect on Fremantle | Walyalup and surrounding areas.

The map area does not reflect any specific redevelopment or scheme boundary. It includes the key land areas surrounding the port for the purpose of considering future options.
