“Have you checked?" is an ongoing campaign of the Working with Children (WWC) Screening Unit. It highlights the importance of sighting, validating and, if appropriate, registering the WWC Card of any new person engaging in child-related work, who already holds a Card.
This process ensures that the WWC Card is current, and that the organisation is notified should a Negative Notice or Interim Negative Notice be issued.
The WWC Screening Unit hold regular online workshops for organisations to increase awareness about their obligations in managing WWC Checks.

Parents - Have you checked children’s entertainers and party providers?
As part of the latest campaign, we are asking parents and guardians planning their child’s party, “Have you checked?” If parents and guardians are looking to engage the work of a self-employed party entertainer, they are encouraged to sight and validate their WWC Card online. If they are engaging a party provider it is always worthwhile asking if their employees have a WWC Check.
We want to empower parents to feel confident in asking simple questions that can help to keep their kids safe. The latest campaign will run for three weeks across social media, specifically targeting parents and guardians.
It is essential for any individual offering children’s entertainment or party services to have a current WWC Card.
The following resources have been developed for organisations to share across their various platforms:
Parents and guardians can find out more information on our parent webpage or by attending a short online session Wednesday 11 June.
