Lodging your liquor licence application

Applications for a permanent liquor licence are lodged online via the department's online portal.

Applications for a permanent liquor licence must be lodged under the name of the proposed licensee (the applicant). The applicant is the individual, partnership or company who will be receiving the proceeds from the sale of liquor under the licence. The applicant must also have (or will have) exclusive tenure of the premises in respect of the liquor licence either by a lease or freehold.

Account

All applicants will need to have an online account to apply for a permanent licence.

If you are not known to the department you will need to create an account (opens a new window). If you are known to us but you will be using a different entity, you will need to create a new account and link it to the new entity.

A common example of this is where a person has an account used for an approved manager application (individual). If they will operate their liquor licence as a company or partnership, an additional account will be required, and the new entity linked to that account.

When creating an account for the company or partnership, you will need to use the correct name that is linked to the ABN and/or ACN for the entity. If there is a ‘trading name’ used for the entity, you can provide this to us later in the application process.

Keep a record of your account details as it will be used to make payment for any additional fees during the application process and afterwards to pay your annual licence fees, lodge further applications and to update the licensee’s contact details.

Lodging an application form

We do not recommend you use a mobile device or an Apple Mac computer to complete the application forms and/or account set up as there are some compatibility issues between our online forms and these devices. Please also ensure you also save your form regularly. An application form can be completed over several sessions if needed (provided it has been saved before exiting).

The application form is intuitive and will ask for additional information dependant on the answers you provide. Before you start, make sure you have easy access to all your documents accessible so you can upload them to your application when prompted.

Application fee

An application will not be processed until the application fee has been paid.
