Apply for new High risk work licence

Application for a new high risk work licence (HRWL).

A High Risk Work licence allows the licence holder to perform classes of high risk work in a workplace. This includes operating cranes, boilers, forklifts, hoists, reach stackers, reciprocating steam engines, rigging, scaffolding and turbines.

A HRWL is recognised in all states and territories of Australia. A worker does not need a HRWL if they are:

  • Using the machinery for personal use on a private property
  • A passenger in machinery (not operating the controls)
  • Further exceptions
