Who we are
The Department of Housing and Works is one of Western Australia’s largest public sector agencies, employing over 2,000 people from diverse professional backgrounds. We make a real difference to communities across the state.
We deliver and maintain:
- public housing
- affordable housing initiatives
- the construction and refurbishment of essential government infrastructure including public schools, police stations and community facilities.
The department is also responsible for:
- social housing works
- tenancy management
- remote Aboriginal community housing
- properties used by government employees.
To support other government agencies, we manage:
- office accommodation
- State Fleet
- procurement services
- statutory planning
- asset policy.
About the program
The Department of Housing and Works Graduate Program offers a structured, hands on introduction to a rewarding career in the Western Australian public sector. During the 12 month program, graduates complete 3 rotations, gaining exposure to different areas of the department. You contribute to meaningful projects that improve housing, infrastructure and essential services across WA.
The program blends real world work experience with tailored training, mentoring and ongoing professional development. Graduates are supported as they transition from university to full time employment. Building the technical, professional and leadership capabilities needed for a successful and impactful career in government.
