Department of Justice Graduate Program

Build core skills and embark on becoming a future leader of the department and the sector.

Who are we?

The Department of Justice is a people‑focused organisation, working to make Western Australia a fairer and safer place to live. We support the community, government, judiciary and Parliament by delivering high quality justice, legal and corrective services, as well as policy advice and legislative support.

We provide a diverse range of services for Western Australians including:

  • justice services such as courts and tribunals, corrective services, offender management, community safety and victim support
  • community services including advocacy, guardianship and administration, the Public Trustee, and the births, deaths and marriages registry
  • government services such as policy advice and legislative drafting.

Our work has a direct impact on individuals, communities and the justice system across Western Australia.

About our program

Our 12 month Graduate Program provides recent university graduates with an opportunity to launch their career in the public sector, develop core professional skills and build a strong foundation for future leadership.

Graduate Officers gain hands‑on experience delivering high quality services to the Department and the community. The program includes structured professional development delivered by both the Public Sector Commission and the Department of Justice, along with leadership forums and cross‑agency networking opportunities.

Graduates are recruited through a pool and may be considered for full time or part time roles, with opportunities for extension and potential permanency.
