The Economic Regulation Authority exists to promote strong economic outcomes through effective regulation of electricity, gas, water and rail services to benefit all Western Australians. About the program
Our 18 month Graduate Program provides structured development, hands on experience, and exposure to our regulatory work areas. You will complete 6 month rotations across the Energy Markets and Regulation divisions, contributing to real projects alongside experienced economists, analysts, and regulatory experts.
Graduates receive ongoing support through mentoring, feedback, and both on the job and professional development opportunities, supported by senior staff, a cohort of peers, and a dedicated Graduate Coordinator.
Following 12 months of satisfactory performance, graduates may be offered a permanent appointment.

What we’re looking for in candidates
At the Economic Regulation Authority, we welcome graduates from a wide range of tertiary disciplines and value the different perspectives and ways of thinking.
Relevant degrees may include, but are not limited to, economics, finance, accounting, law, legal studies, engineering, mathematics, data science, english, social science or actuarial science.
We are looking for curious, motivated graduates who want to make a real impact in the public sector and contribute to meaningful regulatory work.
Throughout the recruitment process, we will be assessing your ability to:

Helpful to have
The following are not essential, but may support you as you settle into the role and build your capability at the Economic Regulation Authority:
- Exposure using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python or similar
- An understanding of economic regulation, public policy, or essential service industries
- Basic understanding of project management concepts or tools
