Restricted plumbing permits allow eligible gasfitters and electricians to disconnect, remove, install and connect a compression fitting, a temperature/pressure relief valve, an expansion control valve, an isolating valve and an approved flexible hose assembly in the course of removing or replacing a water heater on a strictly like-for-like basis, provided that the following circumstances apply:
- No change to the existing pipes is required.
- The existing pipes are in safe and proper working order.
- The temperature/pressure relief valve overflow pipe complies with the plumbing standards.
- The use of a flexible hose connection is not required.
Before you apply
1. You'll need:
- An electrical worker’s licence OR A gasfitting permit or authorisation
- AND to provide evidence of completion of the unit of competency: CPCPWT3022 – Install and commission water heating systems and adjust controls and devices
2. Additional documents
- 100 points of identification ready to upload.
- An acceptable photograph for your licence card (clear passport style image of head and shoulders against a white background, no hats or sunglasses).
- A police check (dated within the past 3 months, showing the same name as your identification).
- Visa/Mastercard for fee payment.
