The program was developed to drive uplift in expertise and knowledge to better equip chief finance officers with the requisite financial capabilities and the essential leadership capabilities to maximise public sector effectiveness and deliver increased value to the community.

Course 1: Key Fundamentals for CFOs in the Public Sector
Course 2: Budget Process for CFOs
Course 3: Financial Risk Management and Internal Controls for CFOs
For CFOs who have commenced these courses but not completed them, the courses are being added to The Skills Academy in November 2026 so they can be completed.
Further details of CFO courses into the future will be provided in 2027.

Enrolment and costs
- Included is peer coaching; and an agency appointed executive partner to support leadership transition in the context of the agency.
- CFOs have access to a learning platform for easy access to all content and to network and share experiences with fellow CFOs in the program.
- Cost is $3,774 for all 4 modules.
- CFOs must seek approval from their agencies.
- Terms for all Public Sector Commission learning and development programs.
