Grants ranging from $25,000 to $200,000 to provide one-off financial co-contributions towards new initiatives that are identified and led by local governments to respond to and prevent homelessness around Western Australia.

Local Government Partnership Fund for Homelessness is now closed.

The key objectives of the Fund are to:

  • Enable the development of place-based initiatives that respond to and prevent homelessness around Western Australia;
  • Create opportunities for local government, the community sector, business and philanthropic organisations to collaborate and co-fund initiatives that will address homelessness and service gaps in their local community; and
  • Encourage the development and delivery of locally designed, innovative initiatives that support implementation of All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030.

The following bodies are eligible to apply for funding:

  • local government authorities
  • incorporated not-for-profit community organisations, provided that they:

    • are located within, or have an established local presence within, the local government area in which the project will be delivered,

    • can demonstrate an active partnership (including a financial or in-kind contribution towards the matched funding requirement) with the local government authority where the project will be located, and

    • include a formal letter of support from the local government authority where the project will be located. 

  • unincorporated organisations or community groups, provided that they apply through the auspice of an incorporated body or a local government authority and they:

    • are located within, or have an established local presence within, the local government area in which the project will be delivered,

    • can demonstrate an active partnership (including a financial or in-kind contribution towards the matched funding requirement) with the local government authority where the project will be located, and

    • include a formal letter of support from the local government authority where the project will be located.

Applications must be submitted to the Department of Communities by 4pm, Friday, 15 October 2021 at grants@communities.wa.gov.au

The Department of Communities and the Western Australian Local Government Association hosted a webinar for local governments on Tuesday, 7 September. The webinar provided detailed information about the Fund, including background information, guidelines and eligibility requirements, responses to pre-submitted questions and a Q&A session.
