Acting on a request from the Shire of East Pilbara, the department’s objective was to assess the concentrations of dust, metals and asbestos in the town area.
The campaign was not designed to assess how local and regional dust sources contribute to the measured concentrations or try to duplicate existing dust monitoring (as PM10) undertaken in Newman by industry facilities.
