The State Hazard Plan for Severe Weather provides an overview of arrangements for the management of cyclones, floods and storms in Western Australia (WA) and contains information of prevention, preparedness response and recovery. Collectively these three hazards are referred to as severe weather.

The State Hazard Plan for Severe Weather (the Plan) provides an overview of arrangements for the management of cyclones, floods and storms in Western Australia (WA) and contains information of prevention, preparedness response and recovery. Collectively these three hazards are referred to as severe weather.


The Fire and Emergency Services (FES) Commissioner, is the Hazard Management Agency (HMA) for cyclones, floods and storms. The State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC), has delegated responsibility for the development, maintenance, review and exercising of the State Hazard Plan – Severe Weather, which incorporates these three hazards, to the FES Commissioner in accordance with the Emergency Management Act 2005.
