Fifty-nine young people debated Bills at WA’s 30th Youth Parliament sitting week.

Youth Parliament encourages young people aged 15 to 25 to actively participate in shaping their community by giving them an opportunity to express their views, concerns and solutions to those with the power to make a change.

Participants spend time in committees developing bills and attend a week-long camp during which the legislation and other motions are debated in the State Parliament. Successfully passed bills are handed to the State Government and Opposition for consideration.

Department of Communities is proud to support the Y WA to run the Youth Parliament to give young Western Australians experience in leadership, public speaking, writing legislation, and working as a team to achieve outcomes.

In 2025, Youth Parliament took place between 6 to 10 July with 59 Youth Parliamentarians debating eight Bills. The topics of the Bills were:

  • Western Australian Regional Ambulance Service Bill 2025
  • Future Skills and Education Advancement Bill 2025
  • Green Energy Transition Bill 2025
  • Family and Domestic Violence Protection and Enforcement Bill 2025
  • Primary Producer Resilience and Recovery Insurance Scheme Bill 2025
  • Safer Transport Bill 2025
  • Equity, Inclusion, Education, and Increasing Opportunities Bill 2025
  • Health Services in Justice (Safe Havens WA) Bill 2025
