The Department of Communities provides funding for a diverse range of engagement initiatives within the Youth portfolio to support young people to develop the knowledge and confidence needed to be involved in community life.

The Department of Communities (Communities) supports a diverse range of development services and engagement initiatives within the Youth portfolio.

These initiatives aim to develop youth leadership, life skills and participation in community life, and support events and activities that promote and celebrate young people’s achievements.

Annual grant programs

WA Youth Engagement Grant Program

The WA Youth Engagement Grants Program supports initiatives and projects that promote and empower young people aged 10 to 25 years.

Youth Week WA Grants

Youth Week WA celebrates the positive contributions of young people within our community. It provides youth, aged 10 to 25 years, and their communities with an opportunity to organise events that:

  • raise issues, ideas and concerns of young people and explore possible solutions
  • profile the role of young people in the community
  • showcase the talents and creativity of young people; and
  • encourage young people to engage with other community sectors.

The Department coordinates Youth Week WA and is responsible for:

  • providing information to support the involvement and inclusion of young people and partnerships with other youth agencies
  • administering the Youth Week WA Grants Program
  • providing advice and promotional opportunities to event organisers.
