The Community Policy Unit is a part of the Aboriginal Engagement and Community Policy Division. It provides strategic advice to the Premier and other Ministers on key social policy issues and projects and supports Government to achieve its economic, social and wellbeing objectives. This can include leading and coordinating cross-Government policy development and implementation in areas of focus.
Some of the areas include:
- Prevention of family and domestic violence;
- Working with the Office of Early childhood education;
- WA's Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse; and
- Government's engagement with the community services sector.
The Unit also provides support to the following committees:
- Human Services Directors General Group (HSDGG) Secretariat: directs and implements cross-government social policies.
- Supporting Communities Forum Secretariat: supports the development of strong, collaborative relationships between Government and the community services sector to address complex challenges and emerging issues.
